Hello and welcome back to Consistent Distant Love!! This has been a pretty busy week for me with AP exams, but I still managed to find time to write (honestly the best form of procrastination). I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying themselves as much as they can. I am definitely suffering from a touch of spring fever and senioritis, but luckily nothing worse than that. I miss each and every one of you!
Tweets of the Week
Not gonna lie, twitter was pretty dry this week but here are some highlights:
For sure trying to channel Britney's energy
Now this is a reboot I am DYING to see
:')
Sourdough Diaries!
Caroline O and her mom made me a gluten-free sourdough starter so I tried it out for the first time this week, read about that on my blog here.
Stalking my friend's playlists
I LOVE discovering music by creeping on other people's Spotify playlists, so let me share some of my favorites of my friend's tunes:
Layla's Crush of Bodies in the Kitchen playlist 100% gets me dancing so fast (and it definitely makes me nostalgic about dancing in her kitchen, who knew 2000s Ke$ha songs and Stacy's Mom could make me so emotional!)
Catie's Happiness is playlist is full of chill jams that will definitely make you smile without even noticing.
Annika's Snowy Forest playlist has the perfect indie without trying too hard feel
Lo's Granola playlist makes me want to abandon society and movie into a cottage in the woods (in the best way possible)
The News From Hanken Drive
This week Grandpa and I got to talking about the time he served in the military between college and grad school. He was located in Rhode Island, California, and South Carolina, but spent a majority of his service in Hawaii. He was a civil engineer in the Navy, and by the time he was done he was a Lieutenant Officer of building. He no longer has his full uniform, but we did go up to his closet and found his hat! He said this is what he wore at all times except for when he was sleeping.
Aside from talking about the navy, we also brained stormed new slogans for his 91st birthday (past ones include: "88 will be great," "89 will be divine," and "90 with be fine-ty!" we decided on "91 will be fun." His birthday is on May 28th, and though we can't go out to dinner to celebrate, Minty is going to make him a caramel cake.
one face serious, one face fun
Ooh Lala!
Cleo just submitted her AP Portfolio, and above are two of my favorite pieces! Her focus was on how women are influences by media's beauty standards and how that can be metaphorically compared to a butterfly's outer wings. I loved all of her pieces and I am so happy for all that she accomplished this year! If you know Cleo, show her some love :).
Alex made this lovely painting, and it totally makes me miss Tahoe nights, hopefully, I will be there soon!
Another painting by Alex, the sky in this one is so beautiful.
Sassy Celeb of the Week: Mindy Kaling
I first found my love for Mindy on her series The Mindy Project when I was in middle school, and I have adored her ever since. Of course, her work on The Office is amazingly binge-able for these times, but I also recommend her newer series, Never Have I Ever. She did aFresh Air interview about the show a few weeks ago and it gave some great insight into why she made the show and it made me love it even more! I also recommend her two books f you are looking for anything to read!
What y'all are snacking on
I, of course, have no shortage of gluten-free vegan food recommendations, but you can find those all on@clairecancookon Instagram. For some different perspectives, I reached out to you guys to see what you are eating!
Katherine loves s'mores and honey baked goldfish and you can get them at any grocery store!
Philippe has been loving the Tik Tok famous Dalgona coffee drink, he's been making it by whipping 2 tbsp instant coffee + 2 tbsp sugar + 1 tbsp cold water and pouring over his iced milk of choice
Alex has been snacking on Trader Joe's Takis and blue corn chips
Josie has been loving smoothies, avocado toast, and Dalgona coffee as well!
Lucy's favorites cinnamon raisin bread, honey but cheerios, quesadillas with corn tortillas, and she has been mainly shopping at Trader Joe's
Caitlin has two favorite quarantine treats, one is Ben & Jerry's and putting arugula on pizza!

The College Board is Quaking
This weekend marks the halfway point of the infamous AP Testing period, of course, many of you reading have been taking these tests too, but for those who aren't, I wanted to provide some insight. This year, due to obvious reason, Advanced Placement™ have to take our tests online in a 45-minute window. This, of course, is crazy, and though The College Board claims to have a well-planned process, it is really just a free for all. The tests are open notes which is a difficult situation because it creates a blurry line of what is and is not considered cheating. Another charming thing about the tests is though they are very condensed, they have managed to preserve the painful tedious "hurry up and wait" process of the in-person tests by requiring we enter the testing portal a half an hour before the test starts, leaving us to stare at the screen aimlessly for eternity. The test creators also decided to humor the students with a bizarre typing test at the beginning that included an authenticity statement and the phrase “my grandfather picks up quartz and other onyx jewels. Send 60 dozen quart jars and 12 black pans,” how fun!? I also definitely recommend looking into the alleged College Board Reddit sting operation if you have a chance. Overall these tests aren't exactly an enjoyable experience, but as those of you who follow me on twitter know, I do appreciate these tests because I can drink my earl grey tea while I take them. Wishing the best of luck to you are still taking them this week, as for me I have two down and three to go :)
Bonus pic that my dad took of me while I wrote this newsletter :)
