A Longe Drive Home

Updated: Oct 19, 2021

Hello and welcome back to the newsletter! Oh my lord, November already? Absolutely crazy. Also, the end of daylight savings is always the death of me, I wish it just didn't happen. I voted today which was great to get that off my chest but I am so anxious about politics right now that it did not do much help. I have chronicled my love-hate relationship with social media here, and this week was definitely tough with Halloween and all, and though I have excellent willpower in many situations, cutting social media is not one of them. If anyone has advice for that, let a girl know!

Tweets of the Week

And we'd do it again!!

So glad he is finally openly a Barb.

Ice Cream made of What?

For our last day in Portland Caroline and I went out for ice cream to a pretty unusual spot. The Little Chickpea is a 100% Gluten-free facility with all vegan icecreams made from chickpeas. I know that sounds odd, but oh my gosh it was simply one of the best vegan ice creams I had ever had. You would never guess it was made of chickpeas and it even passed Caroline's non-vegan approval. Their flavors were out of this world unique and I sampled many before deciding on orange caramel and blackberry basil in a gf cone. I can not recommend this spot enough!

A Month of Markets!

Enjoy this photo series of my weekly farmer's market visits:

Happy Halloween!

I did not do much celebrating for Halloween but I did put together a lazy costume:

I was Kristy from the baby sitter's club

Not bad, right?

The best part of my Halloween was a surprise visit from Natalia where she brought me a squash and caught up with me in the driveway. She is back in SLO now, but she certainly was a treat not a trick!

This was my bonus costume of Rebekah from Taylor Swift's bop, The Last Great American Dynasty. It took a little photoshop magic but I am happy with how it turned out.

A Long Drive Home

We left at the crack of dawn on Halloween to head home from Portland and the drive was pretty smooth!

We stopped in Eugene for breakfast and a quick look at UO.

And of course, a Caroline + Claire road trip would not be complete without Dutch Bros!

The News From Hanken Drive (What's up with grandpa)

Today I stopped by grandpa's to bring him a Halloween cookie and to tell him about my adventures. He was happy to hear about all the exploring we did and was a little jealous. He is wearing corduroys and he informed me that he just brought them out for the first of November. He plans to vote in person on Tuesday with his caretaker, and of course, is settling for Biden. Right now his favorite TV show is Inspector Morse which occasionally airs reruns on PBS.

Fall Food!!

Are you a pumpkin spice queen? A ginger snap girl? Or an apple cider stan? Let me know the best Fall food here!

That's all for this week! I love you all so much and hope you are all holding up!

xoxoxo

P.S.

If you want a blast from the past nostalgia trip, turn on a Charlie Brown holiday special!
